I know there is something I

I know there is something I am missing, and I probably just need to come back and reread everything over and over until I get it, but I still feel confused.

What is the main difference between using なのだ、のだ、なんだ、or んだ with a conjugated or a non-conjugated verb, adjective, or noun?

like in : 朝ご飯を食べるんじゃなかった。
what would it mean if it was written: 朝ご飯を食べらなかったんだ。

If I just need to refer to a previous section, please let me know. I have a feeling that I might have just missed some information.

Thanks!
