Actually, my Japanese class

Actually, my Japanese class just covered this today members, even though we only did it in regards to family . やる is can be used with younger family members/pets so I think that this could probably expanded to inferiors or people really close to you, but I'm not really sure how real people outside of one's family would react. And of course, it's anime so actual speaking patterns of politeness aren't always well followed as you probably know. My Japanese teacher says that she uses あげる with everything and everyone, even her cat.
