Does the choice of the gobi 「ぞ」 and 「ぜ」 relate to the construct prior, or is it purely personal choice? For example, you raised 「行くぞ!」: one of the most parodied Japanese phrases around, but is that ぞ there because it neatly matches the u-sound prior or could 「行くぜ!」 also be equally acceptable (in standard Japanese of course)?
