Honestly... this is going to

Honestly... this is going to sound ridiculous, but, I remembered them with:
Shih-tzu (the little dog)
and
N, so! (Like "Ah, so..." but something Japanese people ACTUALLY say)
If you notice, you raise your voice on "Shi" and "N" above, and lower it on "tsu" and "so"... just like the line on each, respectively...

Shi(up)-Tzu(down) -「シ」「ツ」
N (up) - So! (down) - 「ン」「ソ」

And, yes... Katakana, in my experience with learning and helping others, seems to be considerably harder than Hiragana... which, somehow, mystifies all my Japanese friends/Professors (who swear Hiragana is harder)
