The important thing here is to not take Japanese "spelling rules" too seriously, especially in dialogue. Just go by the feel of the sounds (hearing lots of Japanese helps a lot). Thus:
Question: What's the meaning of "いーなー"?
Answer: Simply "いいなあ".
