It&#8217;s even more noticeable when you&#8217;re NOT in a immersion environment.<\/p>\n<p>Since I&#8217;m no longer living in Japan, I&#8217;ve been trying to learn baby-related words mostly on the internet. Since just looking up words in the dictionary almost never works if it&#8217;s from English to Japanese, I learn by reading sites like <a href=\"http:\/\/baby.goo.ne.jp\/member\/ikuji\/seicho_mikurabe\/\">this one<\/a>. It helps to be prepared in case I want to talk about my baby in Japanese.<\/p>\n<p>Wow, Japanese sure is dependent on Katakana.<br \/>\n\u30d9\u30d3\u30fc\u30ab\u30fc &#8211; stroller<br \/>\n\u30d9\u30d3\u30fc\u30d9\u30c3\u30c9 &#8211; crib<br \/>\n\u30d9\u30d3\u30fc\u5e03\u56e3 &#8211; baby futon<br \/>\n\u30d9\u30d3\u30fc\u30c1\u30a7\u30a2 &#8211; baby chair (seems like mostly high chairs)<\/p>\n<p>\u306f\u3044\u306f\u3044 &#8211; crawl<br \/>\n\u4f1d\u3044\u6b69\u304d &#8211; cruise<br \/>\n\u5b50\u5b88\u5504 &#8211; lullaby<br \/>\n\u3064\u307f\u304d &#8211; building blocks<\/p>\n<p>Somehow I don&#8217;t need to have a real baby to know all the English words.
